Hooked on November

November 2025 is shaping up to be the month Sodwana Bay reels in the big leagues—literally. With three major fishing competitions packed tighter than a cooler box on launch day, this stretch of coast is primed for salt-sprayed adventure, brag-worthy catches, and just a hint of competitive mischief.

First up, from 2–7 November, is the OET Game & Bill Fish Tournament, for which Sodwana Bay Lodge is proudly one of the sponsors. So, the only thing champions need worry about is how shiny their lures are. This tournament draws serious anglers with serious tackle.

Barely a moment to untangle your lines before the Billfish 15000 kicks off on 9 November and runs until the 14th. Again, Sodwana Bay Lodge is proudly one of the sponsors. This is the granddaddy of them all— the ocean equivalent of Formula 1, with the elusive billfish as the single-seater speed machines. Expect skilful catch-and-release action, screeching reels and a few tall tales growing taller each night over a cold drink.

Finally, closing off the month with heavyweight grace, the SADSAA Heavy Tackle Billfish Nationals takes the spotlight from 17–21 November. It’s where pros prove their mettle, teams rally like seasoned pirates and the ocean shows who’s boss.
