Sodwana’s fishing frenzy starts now

There’s a buzz in the air and a flurry of activity along the beach, so it’s shaping up to be an unforgettable week on the Sodwana Bay fishing front. Boats are being prepped, tackle boxes checked and anglers are arriving with one thing on their minds: gamefish action.

First on the calendar is the SADSAA Junior Gamefish Nationals, taking place from 30 March to 3 April. This exciting event brings together talented young anglers from across the country, all eager to showcase their skills offshore. Expect plenty of proud moments, teamwork and impressive catches as the next generation of sportfishing enthusiasts takes to the water. 

Hot on its heels — and overlapping the excitement — is the SSBC Gamefish Competition, running from 1 to 4 April. With seasoned anglers joining the action, the ocean will be alive with competition, camaraderie and the unmistakable sound of screaming reels. 

With two major competitions happening almost simultaneously, Sodwana Bay will be buzzing from sunrise launches to stories shared back on shore. It’s the perfect time to soak up the energy, enjoy the spectacle, and experience why this stretch of coastline is a favourite among game fishermen.
